Project in the spotlight: Forensic Psychiatric Institution
In a Forensic Psychiatric Centre in Belgium, Eribel doors and an access control system have been installed. Each wing of the building can be programmed as required. The programming options are extensive: there is complete control through a central command post, but an authorised person can still use his badge to overrule the access to the rooms. The room doors are programmed according to the fail-safe principle: even if doors are locked, they still unlock after a signal from the fire alarm system or in case of a power failure. This allows evacuating the building safely.

In prisons, on the other hand, the requirement is fail secure: the door remains locked, preventing the detainee from escaping. These doors are also outbreak proof: in order to minimise impact damage such as from kicking, the sensitive components of the lock are placed outside the door leaf. This results in a sustainable, reliable and low-maintenance solution.
